Hello everyone! I’ve decided I want to start publishing my podcasts with Worth Living Mental Health on my blog. I cohost this podcast with Worth Living founder Keith Anderson, and I’ve found it’s a great way to reach people using a medium other than writing. I’m starting with our very first podcast “Breakdown Dead Ahead”, which was originally published on October 15th, 2018. Hope you enjoy, and let me know your thoughts below!
(FYI: This link says the podcast is 4.5 hours long, but I promise it is no longer than 20 minutes)
In this podcast, Keith Anderson and I discuss our mental breakdowns and our journeys through recovery that followed. I was only 19 years old when I had my mental breakdown and wound up in two psychiatric facilities before being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I felt completely and utterly alone in my breakdown, even though I was locked up with many other patients and surrounded by doctors and nurses 24/7. Keith was 42 years old when he went from lawyer successfully practicing to recluse drowning in depression. He did not leave his house for months and recalls that he felt only some parts of his brain were functioning. Although Keith and I differ in age, gender, location and diagnoses, we find many similarities in our stories and hope struggling listeners can find some common ground as well. You are not alone.
